Sustainability at da Vinci - a management report

Our motto has always been "Tradition and Innovation". 

With convintion we add "Tradition, innovation and sustainability" - these are the key words, that should define and guide our actions and the future of our company.

The topic of SUSTAINABILITY has fortunately become increasingly important in recent years and we do not want to tire of making our contribution and continuing to improve: the "da Vinci" company has always endeavoured with full conviction to set standards in this area, and has also been working diligently for some time to meet its own requirements in terms of documentation.

This is especially the case in connection with the extension building, which will be operational at the beginning of 2025 and sets another important milestone: geothermal energy, photovoltaics, green roofs, electric car charging stations and state-of-the-art construction standards are set to make our facility and site a flagship for sustainable production in Germany.

Many sensible measures such as the energy-saving refund system or the reimbursement of 50% of the public transport fare for commuting to work were implemented decades ago. Our required car pool will be gradually converted to purely electric vehicles over the next few years. 

In order to be able to classify our efforts neutrally and pave the way for an evaluation, da Vinci has been a member of EcoVadis since 2021 - an internationally recognised rating platform that takes a close look at the categories of sustainability and social standards along the value chain. We are delighted to announce that da Vinci has already been awarded "Bronze" status in its second year of participation in 2023. The platform assesses performance in four categories: 

  • Environment
  • Labour and human rights
  • Ethics
  • Sustainable sourcing


The bronze medal proves that da Vinci Künstlerpinselfabrik is among the top 35% of the companies evaluated, a great success for a family business of our size. 
Rest assured, we will continue on this path to produce our quality products "Made in Germany" in a sustainable and environmentally conscious manner.
All these measures show that we don't just "talk the talk" in this important area, but we also walk the walk!
It is the declared aim of the executive management to continue to fulfil the increasing responsibility for sustainable development in the future and to constantly improve the results.
