As a company with a long tradition, we have carried responsibility for our region, our employees, and the art world since 1890. Since the brand registration in 1952 by the Defet family, social commitment has been firmly embedded in our corporate philosophy. Our ongoing dedication to social, cultural, and economic sustainability is reflected in many aspects of our work.

Preserving and Passing On Traditional Craftsmanship
We are deeply committed to preserving the centuries-old art of handmade brush making by training young talents in the rare profession of brush maker.
Supporting Local Culture
We actively promote and support the regional art scene, including the Defet Studio and Gallery House in Nuremberg, founded by Marianne and Hansfried Defet to provide both young and established artists with a creative forum. For their long-standing commitment to contemporary art, the Defets were honored in 2008 with the German Cultural Award for Small Enterprises.
Today, the Studio and Gallery House is operated as a foundation and continues to host exhibitions, creative work, and art education projects. In this way, it remains a vibrant cultural hub for artists and art enthusiasts in Nuremberg, while sustainably supporting the development of young talent.

International Art Support
We support emerging artists worldwide through the Marianne Defet Painting Scholarship, established by Hansfried Defet in memory of his wife. The scholarship is aimed at international artists who primarily work with painting and is awarded twice a year.
The selection of scholarship recipients takes place in collaboration with leading cultural institutions in Nuremberg, including the Kunstverein Nürnberg – Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft, the Institute of Modern Art Nuremberg, and the Kunsthalle Nuremberg.
Commitment to Global Cultural Projects
In addition, we take part in international exhibitions, art projects, and cultural initiatives.
